A video has been released showing a lioness attempting to eat a baby at a zoo.

The clip was uploaded to YouTube by the child's parents, who filmed their son Jack sitting behind protective glass at a zoo in Portland, Oregon.

Jack sits peacefully by the glass, at first completely oblivious that a ferocious lioness is mere millimetres behind him trying her absolute hardest to eat his head.

The child eventually turns round to see the animal, but remains unaffected by the creature's frustrated attempt to get through the glass.

A female voice is heard joking: "That's like, almost not cool!"

The lioness starts to slow down her efforts to have some lunch in a second clip, while Jack stays completely calm.
